A rustic Italian wedding

Every now and then you meet people that just become a part of the story of your life. It’s not often clear immediately who those people are, and sometimes they come from unexpected places, but through whatever twist of fate, your paths cross and there you are.

For me, that’s what my friendship with Jo is like. She and I worked together. I think she was meant to be my boss, certainly my senior, although I have heard her say that I never treated her like that. In fact, I don’t think she ever got a handle on what it was that I really did.

But it didn’t matter. A friendship was formed and is still going strong years later, deepened through a mutual love of champagne, passionate discussions and our gorgeous only children.

And just over a month ago, she got married.

A theme was born out of the grooms visits to Italy; it was to be  a relaxed and casual affair – the only requirements being pizza and champagne, with friends and family. We started off with a colour scheme of blues and orange, and tried to incorporate lots of personal touches – like the groom’s Vespa!

Working on behalf of friends is always hard, you want to make sure it’s perfect, you want it to exceed all their expectations, so when both the bride and groom thanked me in their speeches, exclaiming their delight, I couldn’t have been happier.

But of course, these things are never done in isolation… so I need to thank:

  • Liz and the team at Velvet Lily for all the amazing floral arrangements
  • Guilia from Baking Passion for the delicious, and gorgeous cakes
  • Amy from Giggleberry for whipping me up 32 meters of the amazing orange, blue and hessian raggy bunting
  • Li-Ann at Ham & Pea Paperie for the divine invites, which inspired the rest of the of the printables

Finally, thanks Jo and Darryn for asking me to be a part of your day – and for being the easiest couple, ever, to work with!
