A couple of months ago I was lucky enough to be invited to a Mums Night Out at Big 4 Bellarine. It was such a great location, with so many fun things to do, that I couldn’t wait to bring Poss and Husband back again.
While I anticipated less sleep (and less alcohol) than Mums Night Out, the opportunity for some quality family time to finish the school holidays, was too good a chance to pass up.
At home it’s easy to get stuck into the routines of housework, of washing and groceries and filling the gaps with TV and the iPad. Being away, even just for a couple of days, kind of shocks us into spending time together without those distractions, aiming simply enjoying each others company.
It doesn’t always work. Sometimes the change is too much for all of us and we spend the whole time grating on each other – almost wishing for those distractions at home.
But from the moment we arrived on Thursday through to this morning, Poss was content; having our full attention and exhausting us by insisting we try out every single activity that Big 4 offers. It’s not often she relaxes into a space so quickly, but she loved every second of our stay.
We arrived home today to a pile of washing to rival a small mountain, no food in the house and a weekends worth of housework, but it was worth it.
