Carry each other

When I was in about year eight at high school, I discovered U2. It was the early 90’s, so I was a bit behind the crowd, although to be fair, I was only young!

Isn’t it funny how some songs get in deep? You hear them and it conjures up things bigger than the words and the melody. Years later it brings emotions, smells, sounds and places. One takes me right back there, although my frame of reference is different these days. It’s no longer high school dramas over friends and school. It’s bigger things; the stuff of life.

One love, one life, we’ve got to carry each other, carry each other.

How appropriate. Today was the day that the National Disability Insurance Scheme rallies were held across the country. And our politicians committed to bring it. I’m not sure yet if we will see any benefit of this directly, but helping those who need it most in our society helps us all.

Carry each other, carry each other.

It was also the day the Autism community reached out to an anonymous searcher on google, who was looking to answers to a statement I hope to never hear Poss say. “I wish I didn’t have Aspergers”. Bloggers from around the world held a ‘flash blog‘ of positivity. Positivity, all the good things. The joy and the love. The courage. The hope.

One love, one life.

We’re one, but we’re not the same.

Today was also Poss’ cross country races at school. I forgot and sent her in her winter uniform. I missed the race and another mother helped out by lending Poss her daughters old sports uniform. She cried tonight when I put her to bed and “I missed you cheering for me mummy.”

We get to carry each other, carry each other.

As promised last night, I am so pleased to give you all another present tonight; some gorgeous perfume in this super cute little gift bag from Coco & Chloe. It’s valued at $45 and smells just divine – the perfect combination of tangerine, strawberry and apple – so fruity and fun!

Just like last night, to win – simply drop by and like Coco & Chloe on Facebook. And for an extra entry, drop by their website and sign up for their newsletter. Then come back and leave me a comment.

I will draw all the prizes (there will be one winner for each) next Sunday 6th May at 8pm – that will mean that hopefully each of the prizes will reach you in time for Mothers Day! And sorry, it’s only available for my Australian blog readers.

Check back again tomorrow for the next prize… and in the meantime – get commenting! Oh and if you missed last nights, you can click here and enter that one too!

  11. Oooh I love the sound of that perfume, beautiful smells and such a pretty bag.
I like that song too. Luckily Chase is out of the ‘I wish I didn’t have Aspergers’ stage. He knows there are difficulties with it, but he is pleasantly surprised that there are lots of positives in it – like being really good at science and reading and having a great focus at things he’s interested in – and he’s liking that. The quirks that got him picked on when he was younger are now making him quite popular with his peers too, though he still doesn’t have a ‘best’ friend. I know this will change as he gets older and perhaps wants to form other relationships and faces other challenges but it’s a nice place for him to be in right now. And as he says:’ Everyone has a thing. This is mine. It’s not bad, it’s just a thing.’
    I love him.
